The IMED Alcoy hospital is the successor of the San Jorge Sanatorium, and together with the Polyclinic in the Cotes Baixes Industrial Estate, it offers a top-quality healthcare service to the inhabitants of the city and its surrounding areas. Pablo Sánchez Báez, manager of both centres, tells the COPE radio station the reasons why IMED is increasingly positioning itself as a benchmark for healthcare in the city of Alcoy.
“Both centres allow us a positive synergy in the medical and infrastructure area, and to coordinate some specialties that we share and always have the support of both hospitals,” he says.

Since the inauguration of IMED Alcoy in 2022, the growth potential has increased. “Every year we are getting bigger, and we hope that with the synergy with the hospitals in Elche and Benidorm we can make the leap in quality that this city deserves in the private healthcare sector.”

On the one hand, IMED San Jorge is a complete hospital, with a 24-hour emergency service, hospitalisation, operating theatres, diagnostic imaging and rehabilitation. “It allows the people of Alcoy to have surgery ‘at home’ without having to travel to another city, with all the negative consequences that this entails in terms of companions, distance, etc…” says Pablo.
On the other hand, there is the Polyclinic where the extraction area is, the daily consultations for the main specialities such as traumatology, gynaecology, ophthalmology, paediatrics, pulmonology, neurology… “from there we can provide a better service, with greater comfort for the patient”, adds Pablo.

“We are very committed to technology. Today, in Alcoy we have resonance, CT scans... Just because we are a small hospital doesn't mean we have different machinery.
