Murcia, November 6, 2024 - The new private hospital in the city of Murcia, IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta, will be operational next Monday, November 11. The hospital, designed according to the IMED Hospitales care model, is focused on providing patients with the most comprehensive healthcare using the latest technology. With 40 outpatient consultation rooms, IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta will offer services in most medical specialties, supported by a dedicated professional team.
The new center from the IMED healthcare group has 45 beds and a 24-hour emergency service with 4 observation boxes, 1 resuscitation box, and 4 consultation rooms. Additionally, the hospital includes 8 integrated state-of-the-art surgery theaters and a recovery room. Its Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is equipped with 8 beds. The hospital also offers extraction and clinical analysis services, which can be accessed without previous appointment.
The construction and equipping of IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta has involved an investment of over 30 million euros. The technological equipment, one of the most advanced in Murcia, includes a comprehensive imaging diagnosis service equipped with cutting-edge technology such as 1.5 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging, multi-slice CT scans, mammography with tomosynthesis, densitometry, ultrasound, and conventional radiology equipment.
“The combination of a human factor and technology creates a high-quality healthcare offer, unique in Murcia. At IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta, the patient experience is at the center,” explained Roberto Ferrandiz, director of the hospital. “Healthcare is essential, but so is patient comfort, waiting times, and how easy it is to book appointments or access medical records. That’s why we offer the most comfortable rooms and the most intuitive technological applications for the complete management of our relationship with health and the hospital,” Ferrandiz added. The hospital will offer the possibility of self-check-in through the IMED app for outpatient appointments and clinical analyses from its opening.
Other innovations
Another feature of IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta is the interventional radiology room, equipped with the latest technology for diagnostic studies or minimally invasive treatments. This unit is prepared for addressing vascular pathologies using interventional techniques in hemodynamics and electrophysiology, radiology, and neuroradiology. Additionally, IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta has assembled a professional team and specific technological equipment to become a regional reference hospital in cardiology, traumatology, and general surgery. With 250 professionals at the start, IMED aims to employ more than 350 healthcare and administrative staff when fully operational.
IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta is located along one of the main roads in the city of Murcia, Avenida Juan Carlos I, near the Carrefour Zaraiche shopping center. It is easily accessible from both the city center and the surrounding areas.
IMED Hospitales, present in the Murcia region since 2020, also manages an oncology radiotherapy center near Nueva Condomina. The center, spanning 2,000 m2, is equipped with two linear accelerators, a brachytherapy unit, and a CT scanner. Both centers will operate in coordination to provide care that maximizes all possible synergies.
