TThis is how the 24-hour emergency services of the new IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta hospital work

Press Releases | 27 de Noviembre de 2024

The opening of IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta marks a significant advancement in healthcare for Murcia. Since November 11, the city now has a state-of-the-art, fully equipped hospital offering all medical specialties and a 24-hour Emergency Department designed to handle any situation with speed, quality, and patient comfort.

The 24-hour Emergency Department features new facilities, including four observation boxes, one resuscitation box, and four consultation rooms. This infrastructure allows for the simultaneous and efficient treatment of patients with varying levels of complexity. Additionally, the medical and nursing teams are formed by highly qualified professionals, most of whom are in the process of obtaining their specialization in Emergency and Urgent Care Medicine following the approval of the relevant legislation on July 2, 2024.

Dr. Marina Carrasco, Medical Director of IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta, emphasizes the importance of this service:

"Our goal is to ensure fast and effective care for all patients who come to the Emergency Department. We have advanced technology, a multidisciplinary team, and optimized protocols that allow us to act swiftly in any emergency. Without delays or waiting, we manage everything from minor ailments to highly complex situations, such as heart attacks, accidents, or severe trauma."

Dr. Carrasco also highlights the hospital’s focus on providing comprehensive, rapid, and effective patient-centered care:

"At IMED, we are committed to high-quality healthcare that combines cutting-edge technology with a human and personalized approach. Specifically in the Emergency Department, we have a team experienced in managing critical situations and equipped to handle complex cases, thanks to the availability of an ICU and an interventional radiology room (vascular one). We also ensure constant coordination with other hospital areas, such as the Diagnostic Imaging Department, which operates 24/7 to perform essential tests like CT scans or MRIs, which are crucial for many urgent diagnoses."
