IMED Hospitales
  • IMED Valencia is the only private hospital in the Valencian Community that has MIR (Medical Resident Intern) positions in the specialties of Anaesthesia and Resuscitation and Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology.

  • In 2024 the hospital obtained accreditation to train resident doctors in the specialties of Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation and Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology.

Since June 2025 IMED Valencia has its first two resident doctors in the specialties of Traumatology and Anaesthesia following the award of two places offered by the Ministry of Health to the Valencian hospital.

The process of awarding the 9,007 MIR 2025 places in Medicine began on Monday 5th May and lasted until Friday 9th May, the two MIR places offered to IMED Valencia for 2025 were number 2,835 for the Anaesthesia place and 3282 for Traumatology and Orthopaedics.

In December 2023 IMED Valencia and IMED Elche hospitals were accredited by the Ministry of Health to carry out Specialised Health Training (MIR) and, in 2024, IMED Valencia received accreditation to train resident doctors in the specialities of Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation and Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology, becoming the first private hospital in the Valencian Community to receive MIR accreditation for these specialities.

In this way, IMED Valencia becomes the first private hospital in the Valencian Community to have MIR doctors, who will develop their specialised training in the specialities of Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation and Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology.

The medical director of IMED Hospitales, Rafael Giménez, is very satisfied with this milestone. ‘The Spanish healthcare system faces a great challenge due to the retirement of a significant number of doctors every year, which makes it necessary to incorporate new specialists into the system to ensure generational replacement and maintain the quality of care in the National Health System. It is necessary to make maximum use of healthcare and training resources in order to train new medical specialists to maintain and improve the quality of care in our health system. This initiative reflects the great commitment of IMED Hospitales to the training and development of future generations of healthcare professionals, placing the training and teaching capacity of its facilities and medical services at the disposal of the MIR training system of the Ministry of Health, thus contributing to the strengthening of the healthcare system,’ he says.

IMED continues to work to expand this offer of MIR places by expanding it to other specialties, such as Radiodiagnosis, Paediatrics or Internal Medicine and at other centres such as IMED Elche, which is also accredited by the Ministry of Health.

An opportunity for future specialists

The possibility of completing the MIR training at IMED hospitals offers future medical specialists access to highly specialised hospital centres oriented towards innovation and technology. IMED values technology as an element that facilitates the relationship with the patient which, at the same time, differentiates our healthcare concept.

Hospitals that are oriented towards quality and are committed to the patient by providing comprehensive patient care whilst ensuring that each patient receives the right care at the right time.
